Vauney Strahan is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin (BA History of Art) and also of City and Guilds London Art School, where she was awarded a scholarship to study Fine Art, Painting (2006). She also graduated with a Masters degree from IADT in Dublin, where she studied Art and Research Collaboration (2016).
She was awarded a residency, and subsequent fellowship, at the Ballinglen Arts Foundation (Co. Mayo) in 2010. Vauney has held 5 solo exhibitions, including those at the Dunamiase Arts Centre (Portlaoise) 2014, and the Linenhall Arts Centre (Castlebar) 2013. Her work has been selected for curated group shows in Berlin, Spain, and Britain as well as many in Ireland, including regular exhibitions in established municipal galleries such as the Royal Hibernian Academy, the Royal Ulster Academy, and The Lexicon Gallery. Vauney’s studio paintings are featured in both private and public collections. She is an environmentally conscious artist, and her recent studio paintings reflect themes concerned with pollution and plastic waste.
Her commissioned murals range in scope and theme from Irish mythology and folklore for a school building, to African safari animals for a private home, to a wildlife river scene for St Luke’s Hospital. She also paints portraits to commission.
